Flower girls

Flower petals are pretty, but since I'm having two "flower girls" I like the idea of these little 'here comes the bride signs. It makes the ceremony feel like a silent movie, which is cool since my wedding has a vintage feel to it. (although the one on the left looks a little nervous lol)
{Color block flower girl dress} A bride actually made this. Hopefully I can find something like it.

Mixing texture & sparkle

Lovely lace added to clear candle holders makes this romantic. I think black would be cool for a more sultry affair.
Inexpensive sparkle: Add a string of beads with fishing line to dress up a simple votive candle holder.

Project

{DIY Table Topper}
Okay, so my sewing skills are limited to attaching buttons & a pillow I made in 8th grade home economics. But I think I can make these table toppers. I got some fabulous spinach taffeta & black Chantilly lace from JoAnn's Fabric yesterday (at 50% off by the way). I am measuring a 15x15 inch square of the taffeta with a diagonal cut of the lace. I may add a thin black velvet boarder along the edges. I'm not sure if I can pull this off, but I have 9 months to figure it out.
The reception tables will have a creamy white table cloth & I think this will be a good way to incorporate color without going over-the-top.

bridesmaid styles

I can't decide whether I want green as the main bridesmaid dress color or black. Maybe I'll end up doing a mixture of both. All dresses from the Dessy Group An interesting pattern play of the green, but I'm not sure if this is right for an evening wedding. Perhaps this is better for a day event in a garden setting. What do you think? I love it just the same.
I am leaning toward tea-length dresses, but I couldn't resist this dramatic halter gown. Maybe just my maid of honor could wear this full length option to give the girls a more varied look.
I like this mix & match option with the sashes.
A nice classic A-line dress. My maid of honor tried on a similar dress at David's Bridal & she came up with a cute idea of adding a black sash & tying it together with the attached sash on the dress to create a two-toned look.
{Inspiration: Sex and the City} All my bridesmaids looking fabulous in varied styles of black
Love the rosettes
I love the large sash over this dramatic long gown & the little pockets are great too.
A little bit of Audrey a la Breakfast at Tiffanys
Fabulous black party dress

Pearls please

I picked up this pearl necklace with ribbon tie at Target today. I'm not sure if this necklace is "too much" for my dress, if such a thing is possible on your wedding day. Oh and P.S. ... given my mad photoshop skills, I placed my dress & this necklace on this model, who is wearing the birdcage veil I'm coveting. Pretty???

Hair*style

{Flowers, Feathers & Birdcages} Veil & headpiece options from various etsy sellers - so beautiful it's hard to decide which one!

The Dress

{A Perfect Fit} I made a 2nd trip to David's Bridal with the entourage to reaffirm my choices. I walked out of the dressing room & there was another bride-to-be, wearing the exact same dress with the exact same black sash. At that moment I knew I had to go with my first instinct. This was not my dress. My dress allowed my personality to come through. My dress hit every curve of my body & didn't apologize for its boldness.
Modern cut, classic vintage details...100% me. I didn't think it was possible to have such an affinity for a piece of clothing, but I truly love it! {Piero dress by San Patrick, Barcelona}

Dress Shop I

Lots of beautiful vintage-style lace. I liked this one, but sitting gracefully proved to be a challenge.

My happy obsession

Two more reasons why I love Etsy.com These may not have anything to do with my wedding, but goodness they are beautiful & 100% me. I just purchased these for myself as an early Christmas gift.

Bari Jay Dresses

{Always a bride, never a bridesmaid}
I'm not one for fussy bridal styles. I dislike heavy beading, too much lace, corset style gowns, big poofy skirts & pretty much anything that says 'I am a princess.' I like nice clean lines, simple sparkle (like adding a brooch) & fabric play. Bari Jay offers these stunning bridesmaid dresses in ivory. They range from $198 - $250.
Dress 1 in ivory I love the dramatic detail on the front bodice. It reminds me of old Hollywood glamor.
Dress 2 Front view in ivory (left) Back view Dress 3 in ivory Dramatic neckline with a little sparkle

Shower

{Stephanie in Weddingland}
So Melissa (my maid of honor) & I have already started brainstorming on shower ideas. As major Disney fans, we came up with the idea of possibly having an Alice in Wonderland themed bridal shower.
Majorly Cute Find I found these witty teapot shaped coasters at Tuesday Morning today. I'm thinking we can incorporate into party favors. Coaster set of 12 by MudPie.

{Bridesmaid accessories} I found these great lace fans for $14-20 online. I like the idea of adding little polka-dot gloves to the bridesmaid ensemble
{Perfect Combination} I am making my own bouquet wrap with green, black & rhinestone buttons. I found a bouquet online (right) made of paper cream flowers & black tulle for $38
Vintage lace parasol. This would be really great to use as a prop in wedding photos

{Romantic}
I love the layers of different shapes, heights & textures of candlelight.
Romantic style lanterns & candle holders. All from Ikea & Umbra Decor for Target.
{Charmed by nature} I can't help but love these rustic ideas for centerpiece menageries 1) Craft moss wrapped in tulle 2) Branches with hanging candles & crystals 3) Botanical plants in bell jars. The little butterflies added to any of these options add a bit of whimsy.
