DIY Wedding Sign

{Project: Wedding Sign}
This sign will be on display at my guest reception table (will contain cardholder, seating assignments). This project was incredibly simple to make & adds a whimsical detail to the reception entrance. I love this because it's something that I can hang on the wall after the wedding, perhaps next to a collage of wedding photos.
Original Inspiration: Monogram letter sign sold at Anthropologie stores. I loved the idea, but just one letter costs $38 (of course this is made with a heavier wood & actual metal. In my project tutorial, I will show how I achieved the same look using wood materials & paint.
Materials used:
-Wood frame -Butterflies -Wood numbers & alphabet -Silver & metallic green acrylic paint -Paintbrush (small, wide & flat style) -Dark wood stain -Stain brush -Floral picks -Tacky glue -Glue gun
Instructions: 1. Apply one coat of wood stain to the frame. Allow to dry. Tip: do this outside, less fumes. 2. Meanwhile, apply 1-2 coats of acrylic pain to numbers & letters. 3. Apply 2nd coat of wood stain (allow to dry completely before proceeding with next step. I let it dry overnight) 4. Place all numbers & letters on frame in desired alignment 5. Apply tacky glue to numbers & letters; add to wood frame. Tip: use the paintbrush for this, it distributes a nice even coat so there's not glue running everywhere. 6. Use a glue gun to apply butterflies & floral picks. 7. Allow everything to dry for several hours before moving.
All materials were purchased at Michaels Crafts.
