Sorry for the late post today...I've been very busy this morning cleaning out my closet for items to take to the goodwill. There's nothing like a little spring cleaning, it's amazing what you can really clear out. Okay, so onto more of my office showcase. This is my new desk, which pretty much prompted me to update my whole office. My criteria for a new desk was simple: stylish, functional and clean lines. Ikea delivered the perfect combination (yet again) - the Expedit desk/bookcase combination. I absolutely love it! Ikea, what would I do without you?
The Expedit features a much larger workspace than my old desk. It's deep enough to hold my computer and a couple of other pretty things without looking cluttered. I'm a bit of a clutter bug by nature. It's something that I always struggle with because I hate looking/living in cluttered spaces.
I know I've said before that I LOVE the dollar bin at Michaels. So many fun finds in there. I filled my pencil cup with dollar bin goodness - bright & cheerful writing utensils and some patterned paper clips that I keep in this small box. Pictured left are file folders that I picked up in a cute little stationary store in San Francisco. There's YESTERDAY, TODAY, NEXT WEEK, NEXT MONTH and WHO KNOWS. So perfect for me!
And see... the bookcase has all these nice little cubbies so you can make nice displays of your books and things. Tip: When lighting a small space, try a variety of light sources. I have a total of 3 lights in this room. A pendant, side table light and this pretty pattern one above my desk. This light is from Target (my other favorite store).
Tip: When grouping your books, try to separate by color. See how I've focused on red here? Also, give your books some personality with fun mismatched bookends.
I found this plate at Home Goods. I suppose you're supposed to eat off this, but I just thought the illustration was so pretty that it would look nice on display.
I have 2 more areas that I will be featuring from my office. I will be posting this weekend, so check back soon. I hope you all have wonderful Easter weekend!
