Nice rack

I have one of those pivoting 24-jar spice racks that sits on the counter. In hindsight I would have never bothered with such a thing. I'd say I only use about half the spices it came with- meanwhile the ones I do use sit scattered about in our nightmare of a pantry. Perhaps I haven't mentioned our pantry - it's tiny & impractical. It goes deep into the wall, which makes most things virtually inaccessible for daily use.

Anyway this was my solution - install another rack over the stove for the odds & ends spices/herbs in my collection. I wanted something inexpensive, sleek & compact so I went a slightly less traditional route and used a picture ledge. Yes, this is Ikea's Ribba picture ledge which I "spiced up" with a chalkboard sticker & a chalk marker. For uniformity I sprung for some new jars & customized with leftover waterslide decal paper. Although once everything was said and done I realized I forgot the dill, so there's one black sheep in my new spice rack. Oh that dill...such a rebel you know.

Ikea Droppar storage jars
All in all, this solution cost $25. Not too shabby. I'm sure a new spice rack alone would cost that at Bed Bath & Hell Beyond!

@ Sarah- So glad you like it! The stickers were found at Home Goods, but Amazon sells a similar product:

Just cut to size! You can also use chalkboard spray paint.

Very creative...love it! I just recently bought the Droppar jars as well and have been researching labeling options. What font did you use for your labels?

@Jennifer - Thanks! The font is Century Gothic...one of my faves.

Thanks Stephanie. I'm still playing around with fonts. Love fonts! Can't decide. ;-)
