Mission Missoni

Like many Target-loving fashion-minded gals I flocked to my nearest store at 10:30 this morning with high hopes of walking away with at least 1 item from the Missoni collection, only to find this. Empty shelves, sparsely stocked racks and copious displays of greed. A pair of women muscled out other shoppers toting around 3 carts loaded with multiples of literally everything in the collection. I was so disgusted. Didn't anyone teach these ladies how to share? Clearly these were fashion scalpers stocking up to make a killing on the resale. I chuckled when upon reaching the checkout line saw the women were being refused the total purchase. Apparently Target thought of this scenario and there is a 2 item maximum, like you can only buy 2 blouses or 2 pillows, etc. per day. Denied bitches! Haha...

I would have felt bad for the employees who had to put the items back, but there were customers eying the commotion, ready to pounce on the coveted cartloads. I swear, shopping is like watching Animal Planet. Very entertaining.

I didn't leave the store completely empty-handed. I bought toothpaste. So exciting, I know. When I got home I visited Target's website on the off chance that they weren't already sold out of everything. Apparently everyone else had the same idea...

Bollocks...thwarted again! I waited my turn and was pleased that not everything on my wishlist was out of stock. I ended up ordering 2 of the zig zag print bath & hand towels plus this pouf. The pouf is a bit of a splurge for me, but when you find something so perfect you just gotta go for it.

So that was my Missoni for Target adventure for the day.

Readers, did you make the trip to Target in search of designer-acquired glory? Any past collection stories to share? Leave a comment below!

I feel your pain, lady! I woke up at 6:30 this morning and went to Target.com to try and peruse the collection (there is no Target in SF and I have a packed day at work so I knew that heading to the store was out of the question). I was met by the Target dog telling me the website was down. Boo! I'm glad those greedy biotches got what was coming to them. I hate it when a few people ruin everything for the masses who are just trying to score one or two cute things :)

I live in a small town so I didn't run into any full carts. I did make friends with about half the employees and they did tell me that they will continuously be getting stock in. So keep checking back!

I went here in Charleston, SC. We have 3 stores in our area and only one sold out! i went to the smaller store and bought a few things, later in the afternoon i went and by another one and they were fully stocked! one guy was buying most of everything by the time i was leaving and proclaimed to everyone he was just going to sell the on ebay!

I took the morning off in anticipation of the mayhem, but at the last minute I decided taking time off was overkill! BOY, was I wrong. I went on my lunch break only to come away pretty much empty handed! I am so sad at the blatant hording that went on. I even saw one lady at the return desk right before closing attempting to return 3 large bags full of Missoni, without a receipt! She was turned away, irony!

I don't think the scalpers were denied where I live! Good idea though, I wish they had enforced it better.

I live in the Washington DC area and went to my local Target yesterday morning after dropping the kids at school. I saw the same gluttonous, greedy, behavior that you described. Unfortunately, the Target staff did nothing to stop the hording. Several women were openly discussing the profit they would make off the items once they listed them on eBay. Nice! Others hovered around the dressing room hoping to find clothes that were left behind. Also, I noticed a lot of ladies who in their desperation to get something, anything (!) Missoni, were in the girls department trying to squeeze into child-sized sweaters and skirts. Ugh. I managed to find a set of hand towels, so I was happy. I also hit the Halloween section, and by chance, found two Missoni clutches stuffed inside a plastic pumpkin! Weird! I think maybe someone stashed them to buy later?? I bought one, and handed the other one over to an employee who was cleaning up the mess made by the Missoni-hungry crowd.

I had a similar experience, although when I arrived at 5:45 there weren't any other shoppers. (But there also wasn't much merchandise!)
