Becoming the Black Swan

Source: elle.com

After watching Black Swan I instantly started scheming on how to recreate this look for Halloween. And of course I'll be sharing my progress along the way.

I found this amazing make-up tutorial on how to recreate the look. Side note: her voice is strangely soothing...I might be in a trance after watching it.

The costume would be pretty simple to recreate. It's all about starting with a basic corset & ballet skirt, then embellishing from there. Although I'm taking a more authentic approach to the costume, I was very tempted to stray after finding these...

Can you imagine a Black Swan masquerade costume?
I can and it's gorgeous!

You're going to look amazing! No dressing up for me this year, but I wanted to be a raven - I had a great mask and feather collar thing from etsy all picked out until I remembered that we're going to a wedding that weekend. I cannot wait to see your costume. I'm sure it will be fab!

You weren't kidding about her voice. I want her to narrate my life. Or maybe I want to take a nap, not sure. I love the black swan costume idea. I'm going as Rita from Dexter. Not horribly original or creative, but I'm poor and need to use things I already have. Can't wait to see the rest of your costume!

Holy crap, great minds really DO think alike! I decided to try and create a Black Swan masquerade costume after finding a gorgeous mask at the mall. But now after watching that makeup tutorial, I'm kind of jealous that you're going the more authentic route. :) Anyway, I can't wait to see the rest of your costume. You're going to look gorgeous!
